Fred Williams

Fred was the founder of the company in 1936 and was a proud competitor with his other contemporary Irishmen, J.C. Higgins, M.J. Flaherty, T.G. Gallagher and P.J. Riley. They all performed the majority of the City and Archdiocese of Boston work in the late 1930’s through the late 1950’s. The next generation of Williams, Tom, Jay and Mike carried the company in a new direction in the 1960’s and early 70’s as industry boomed around Route 128 and the company moved away from public work and into the private sector. The 1980’s and 90’s saw another shift for the company into the hospital and university marketplace. By now, Fred’s grandson Jay Jr. was more heavily involved in the day to day operation, becoming President in 1992. Jay Jr. continues today as the third generation, operating the business for Engie.
